History

School buildings at this time consisted of three brick classrooms, and the original wooden building which was used by infants' classes. The parents and citizens' association (P&C) petitioned for extra accommodation and in 1937, after having being deferred for some time, plans were drawn up.

The work completed in March 1938, added an infants classroom as well as a Headmasters office and staff room. This section still stands as the oldest part of the existing school complex. At the same time, memorial gates were erected at the school by the people of Henty, as a tribute to Mr & Mrs T Selk. These were unveiled in September 1939 by the Member for Albury, Mr A Mair.

In December 1977, the secondary section of the school closed following the building of the Billabong High School at Culcairn to serve the area. The Henty Central School was once again the Henty Public School.

In 1985, a new brick veneer residence was constructed in Sladen Street, opposite the school, to replace the 1895 building.

The school badge, incorporating the Memorial Gates as part of its design was introduced in 1954, by Trevor Jenkins who was President of the P & C Association.

In 1964, another brick building was erected on the eastern side of the school yard consisting of Science, Home Science and Manual Arts rooms. In the same year, increased enrolments led to the addition of another brick classroom on the eastern end of the Home Science room.

In 1973, the last links with the original 1892 building disappeared with the demolition of the two weatherboard classrooms. These were replaced with three modern brick classrooms, and at the same time, the present Administration Block was erected.
